IFAA Technical Conference
Tom and David attended this conference and were impressed with the openness and friendliness between adjusters from all corners of the globe.
Resource in catastrophe and surge situations was discussed – together with best practice. Christchurch in New Zealand is still suffering from continued tremors and inactivity - a “wait and see” approach seems to have been adopted by some insurers and the local council. Floods have occurred in Australia and recently Thailand. Japan quietly gets on with the Earthquake/Tsunami incident but the issues of wide area damage, nuclear contamination and blight are now beginning to loom. The Hurricane season continues. In the UK the Riot claims gained interest – such cover is generally not available elsewhere in the world and the position of recovery against the Police Authorities is unheard of!
All in all there is a lot of catastrophe activity globally but it is comforting to know that we can work together with local operations anywhere in the world while supplying London Market expertise and experience.
